About my love for childbirth:
I have always been fascinated with pregnancy and childbirth from the time I was a child. I used to joke with people that "if only there was a career out there where I could be in delivery rooms to support women during that, then I'd do it!" Well, that dream has come true...
When I was 6 years old my aunt was pregnant. I loved being with her throughout it: feeling the baby move, going for her ultrasounds, and asking her Doctor questions. I was such a part of this pregnancy and showed such intrigue that her Doctor called me right after my cousin was born! At that moment I realized that what a woman's body does is amazing, and God is amazing for creating it that way.
I have attended multiple births, some as a friend and some as a doula. All were completely different experiences, but so incredible and beautiful. Next to my wedding day and the birth of my children; these were some of the most impacting days in my life! I personally did not have a great first time birth experience, and I love that I can help other women avoid the physical and emotional pain I went through with that birth. I myself used a Labor Doula for the birth of my second child and I am so grateful that I had her to help my husband and I when the time came to give birth!
